Gynae 2nd Visit - Part 1

We had been scheduled for the 2nd visit on the 6th of January, 2 days before CNY. We had been informed by Dr Zovi that she will be on leave on the month during the first visit. So she refer us to her converage, Dr Low, a male doctor.

We have no choice but since I get to know the 2nd visit, they no longer use the long myterious kits ( kits that I blog in the previous post) to went through the "tunnel" again. So we didn't mind to get a male doctor now.. :P

During the 2nd checkout, the same, still behind the curtain. And the doctor called me in only until it is ready for me to see my baby image on the screen. Same type of monitor, same type of instrument, but different type of scanning kits and different doctor.

This time, he is using another more flat and short one, shown in photo below. He apply some cream on my wife's tummy and start to move the scanning kit around to get a better image of my baby.

I can't wait to see my baby for the 2nd time. I am so excited until I nearly forget to capture the photo. I am worried the doctor might not allow me to take any photo, different doctor ma... I did ask for permission and start my shooting.

This is the best shot I can get. The baby like hanging upside down with the head facing downwards. What I can tell is, the baby is very excited to meet us for the 2nd time. Why I say so?

The baby is moving so frequent like hoping up and down. How? I didn't capture it in the video. So lets imagine the bungy jump. Right after you reach the bottom, you will bounce back right? So my baby just act like that. He is boucing around, upside down. I believe my baby is having fun inside. :P

My wife is scared by our baby reaction, and keep on asking me, what had happened to baby? And I did ask the doctor right on the spot and doctor told us this is normal.

phew~... You know why I wan to ask on the spot? This is the best way to convince preganant women. Get it? Else they might curious to know more and ask for more and more and more.... Don't let the pregnant women think too much. Get it? :P

First Visit to Gyane - Part 3

This is the post to disclose the mystery behind the curtain during the first checkout. I was told by one of my colleague, during the early stage of conceive, the embryo is too small to detect using normal ultrasound tool like what see in TV or magazine.

And you might wonder why I am still able to capture the photo in my previous post. I was told that the doctor will use different ultrasound kits to do it. I didn't know how the kits look like until the end of checkout.

In order to get the tiny embryo image, the kit need to go closer to the embryo. The closer they can go, the clearer the image will be. So this is the kit they used.

myterious toolSo now can you imagine how this kit is used?... Yes... it is. If you can't imagine it. Let me tell you now.

The kit just look like male private part, right? So it acts as what it is. In order to get closer to the embryo, the kit need to go in the "tunnel". That's the reason, the kit's design having same appearance with male parts.

First, the doctor apply some lubricants on the kits. Then, she gets herself a condom and cover the kits with condom. And apply another round of lubricant on the condom. Now everything is ready.

The doctor ask my wife to relax and it will cause her a bit pain. Before my wife able nodded her head, the doctor already use the kit to break in. I should say break in without permission... :P. And it is painful.

And that's all on the mystery behind the curtain and bed shed. The doctor is actually moving the kit to get a better image of my baby. Its that simple. Nothing much.

Now you understand why we look for female doctor instead of male one? She can't take it and so do I. Jealousy make the call. :P

First Visit to Gyane - Part 2

After couples of minutes, we are called to meet the doctor for the first time. From her name, Dr. Zovi, I am assuming she must be an indian lady (dark skin). But when I first saw her, I am in a shock. She looks like Chinese.

What do you mean by look like Chinese? Ya, she looks like but she is not. She is Indian... okok.. a bit off topics.. :P

OK, finally start on the checkout, started with some questions which had been ask mostly by the nurse prior to the checkout. I wonder why she need to ask again.

Then she calculates the expected delivery date, which is on 18th of July 2008. How to calculate? Easy. Here is the formula.

Expected delivery date = (Day of last period + 7),(Month of last period +
9),year

Examnple, my wife last period is at 11th October 2007, so

Expected delivery date = Day(11+ 7), Month(10 + 9),year = 18th July 2008

After those paper work, start with the actual checkout. She asked my wife to go behind the curtain for checkout. I am leaving behind sitting by the table. Waiting........ What happen behind the curtain, I don't know. I guess would be taken off pants and lie down for the checkout.

After couples of minutes, I started to get frustratedfrustrated as I thought I can get to see what had been done and to see how my baby look like for the first time. But I had left behind for sometime. I thought I won't be able to go in.

But finally, I heard my wife call my name.. HOREY!!... horey I am getting so excited as I can go in now!!!!!

Same as what I expected, my wife lying down on the bed, with both legs hanging on the supporter (on the orange color part in the pics below).

And the doctor ask me to look at the screen, and said "This is your baby. You saw this... that...... " while poiting on the screen. She is moving "something" under the cover to get a better view on the baby. I can't see anything as my wife's bottom is covered by bed sheet.

After that, I ask if i can take the photo of my baby. To my surprise, she said just go ahead. So here is the first picture of my baby.

Previously I had seen some photo about the baby development from conceive until deliver. So I try to do a comparison as the below photo. One is the illustration and another one is the actual shot from the ultra sound image.

More on the missing part on what had been done behind the curtain and what is the "something" the doctor is using to view the baby. Stay tune.

First Visit to Gyane - Part 1

On 9th December 2008, we paid a visit to the Adventist Hospital to look for our choice of gyane, Dr. Zovi. Being the first time doing this, I am a bit nervous and excited. I can't wait to see how my baby look like.

We went there on early Sunday morning around 8.30am.
Yes!! Sunday morning, that's the reason why we turn to this hospital which operate on Sunday. I don't have to take leave for all the checkout. I mean both of us.

After doing all the registration, we have to wait for our turn. As we are walk in for the first checkout without appointment, so I expected to wait longer. But their practice is one appointment checkout after a walk in patient. It is kind of fair to me.

We waited patiently in front the patient numbering system and a nurse came out and called my wife's name. I am wonder, it is 2 more patients before my wife. Later I realize they need to do some pre-checkout before the doctor.

The pre-checkout includes measuring height, weight, and blood pressure and ask some question about her.
Here are the questions.
  1. When was your last period?
  2. Is your period regular?
  3. How many days since your expected period date?
  4. Did you do any checkout prior to confirm the pregnancy?
  5. Is there any bleeding happen during your sexual intercourse?
  6. Is this your first baby?
  7. Have you experience any mis-carry before?

Those are the common question to get to know the pregnant ladies. I am wondering how the bleeding while making love related to the pregnancy. I don't understand. Dr Zovi

After the checkout, another round of waiting before being ask to wait outside the gyane room, Dr. Zovi.

Choosing Gyane

After the previous checkout at the Pan-Medic clinic and confirm on the pregnancy, we did ask the doctor if he has any recommended Gyane in town. But he don't have any idea and I doubt about it.

Now I have another problem, which gyane to look for?
There are so many in town and I don't know which one to choose. I had heard some bad comments on certain hospital and even some gyane, but I never take attention to keep them in my mind.

Now it is time to recall back all those comments and past experience from others. These are few choices but bad comments turn them down.

1. SRI-GIM => Banned due to previous incident happen on my sister (given wrong medicine)
2. Pantai Hospital => poor service and in-experince doctor.

Here are some with good comments
1. Adventist ==> Good: Lady Doctor; Bad: Vegetarian, far away from my house
2. Island ==> Good: Good doctor; Bad: Expensive

As this is the first time my wife is pregnant, and she would prefer a lady doctor to checkout on her private part instead of a guy doctor. I respect her choice even I disagree as the location is far from my place.

But, I am not the one that need to take off my pants to let the doctor to do the checkout and touching the private part, so I respect my wife decision. Dr. Zovi is our choice.
